New England Model Engineering Society

On April 4, 1996 the first meeting was held of a group dedicated to:

Our meetings are held at the Charles River Museum of Industry at 150 Moody St. in Waltham MA. The Museum is a great place to visit (they have a WEB site under construction). The collection covers a wide range of things mechanical- engines, weaving machines, clocks, clockmaking machinery, autos, bicycles, a steam fire engine, and lots more. They are located in a 19th century Boilerhouse of a Mill complex.

NEMES club meetings are the FIRST Thursday of each month at 7:00PM.

Our group is very informal and is focused on BUILDING and not collecting. We share experiences on a wide range of metal and other precision working. Each meeting includes a time for members 'Show and Tell' where members are invited to show us a project in the works, to ask the assembled group for advice, or to tell the group of some new find, like a good scrap metal source!

We also have a featured speaker at each meeting. The first meeting speaker was Roland Gaucher showing and describing the building of a one quarter size model of a WWI Bentley BR2 Rotary Aircraft engine.

We select speakers form our own membership, and have had several technical speakers, like a Sales Engineer from Locktite Corp. We have had Rudy Kouhoupt, well known writter for HOME SHOP MACHINIST, who will be retuning in March 2000.

Annual Show - Third Saturday in February

We held our first show on February 15, 1997. We had 43 exhibitors and over 100 'things' on display, ranging from several model locomotives, a few internal combustion engines, a self propelled steam fire engine and lots more. We had similar shows each year since then.

Bus tour

We organized a charter bus to take 30 of us to the North American Show in April of 1997, and to the Cabin fever Show in each year since 1998.

Come, join us!
